Richard Johnson, Executive Director and Founder
Richard has more than 35 years’ experience as a business owner in the auto industry. At one point, he held the No. 1 Mazda dealership in the Northwest. He has received numerous awards for sales, leadership and business management innovation. After a successful career, Richard retired, wanting to help families struggling to achieve self-sufficiency. In 1994, Richard founded ATI and is on the road daily, full-time, meeting with donors, filling out the tax paper work and answering any questions. He continues to provide leadership and direction to carry out ATI’s vision of reliable transportation for low-income families.
Danny Hunter, General Manager
Danny is a vet from the Navy. Born in Las Vegas and raised in Nebraska makes him the Corn Huskers biggest fan. If he’s not alongside Laura tending his garden, he is tinkering with other projects. an loves building, painting and drawing. He is a prankster known as the practical jokester amongst friends.
Working at ATI for the last 15 years has given him opportunities to pursue many projects, most of which are created with license plates. On his of time, he loves being with the family and his granddaughter.
Dan Geidel, Auto Technician
Dan G (“Silver Fox”) has worked for ATI for three years and is Auto Tech’s lead mechanic. The first car he worked on was a Mazda. He has experience with all types of vehicles—old and new. American makes and foreign imports. In his past, he has worked on restoring older cars. A fan of country music, he has a daughter and has lived in Minnesota his whole life.
Laura Hunter, Assistant to the Director
A fan of country music and spider solitaire, she sold her first car at 23 years old. She has thee children and spends her weekends in the garden and improving the house she built herself. A fan of television shows such as “Dance Moms,” “Law and Order” and “Criminal Minds.”
Working and giving back to the community has always been a passion of hers, along with travel. She has lived in Alaska, California, Arizona, Washington and Oregon.
Trent Baysinger, Auto Technician
Trent is the newest member of the Auto Tech family. Trent loves rock n’ roll music and hanging out with his seven children. The first car he rebuilt was a Grand Tarino. Trent was born in Minnesota and has lived here his entire life. He has a vast amount of hobbies, one being small gas powered helicopters and model cars, an activity that involves his whole family.
Lucky Vang, Sales and IT Specialist
Lucky has worked for ATI since 2010. His interest in cars sparked at age 14, which has given him an advantage as ATI’s lead salesman. As a young man, he couldn’t wait to drive, he saw it as a ticket to freedom. His first car was a 1991 Acura Integra. Tinkering around with cars has given him an eye for value and an eagle eye for a great deal. In his free time, Lucky enjoys playing pool and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He loves sports, always rooting for his all time favorite team the Detroit Lions. His favorite TV shows are “American Pickers” and “Pawn Shop.” His dream car is a Bentley.
